Anti-Mould Paints
Unlike a regular stain, mould is a living organism that grows and spreads whenever there is moisture. Therefore, damp areas such as your kitchen, bathroom and areas around the air conditioner are prone to moulding, which should be dealt with promptly.
For such areas, using regular paint without anti-moulding properties should be avoided as mould can easily eat through them. If you are going to invest time and money into refreshing your walls, pick anti mould paints for effective and durable protection.
To prevent mould from coming back, there are a few steps you can take.
- Identify the root cause
The most common causes of mould are poor ventilation and heat circulation. An easy way to deal with this is to leave your doors and windows open for a short while after showering. An extractor fan can also help with better air circulation.
- Clean and remove existing mould
Using a soft scrubbing brush, clean the affected area with a mixture of water (2 parts) and bleach (1 part). After leaving the solution on for 30 minutes, wipe it off using a slightly damp cloth.
- Use anti mould paint and sealer
For best results, it is recommended to use a sealer to cover up any hairline cracks and better protect your walls against moisture. Allow the sealer to dry for a few hours before applying the anti mould paint.
